Make Money From Your Phone w/ Social Media Marketing

Fresh out of high school, I applied for a job to be a blogger for an automotive CRM company - if I knew anything at all, it was that I knew my way around a computer (thanks, Myspace) and that I loved cars. Eventually I was blogging for several hundred car dealerships across the United States and I graduated to managing social media - little did I know that this small company based out of Valdosta, GA was going to give me the tools to make money from home for the rest of my life.

Back then social media marketing was a fairly new concept for smaller brands and businesses. No one knew how to do it but we knew what the goal was - to make deeply personal connections with people. That's it. That simple. Make connections.

Fast forward to the present - I am now 28 years old and work from home with my 4 and 3 year old daughters. We wake up when we want, go grocery shopping when we want (never), play when we want, etc. How? Social media. Thousands upon thousands of brands and businesses all over the world need help connecting with their customers because they don't understand social media or just don't have the time.

But guess what? If you're here, you probably have a general understanding of social media and a little bit of time - two ingredients that are needed to successfully make money from home. So, let's get started...

Step 1: Identify a skill and sell it

Did you make sweet Myspace pages? You can be a web designer

Do you enjoy writing? You could be a copywriter.

Love creating graphics? You could create social media content for businesses. (And you're already half way there with websites like Stock Media Empire who have over 25,000 royalty free stock images)

None of the above? Great! You have a wealth of knowledge inside of your palm - use it!

You can learn how to do just about anything on YouTube and there are about a billion free courses on how to get started in social media marketing all over the web.

Find a business (local or otherwise) that could use some help and reach out!

Step 2: Know your audience

After leaving the car business, I dove write into the juvenile industry. I was a mom, I knew what it was like to be a mom, I was aware of the struggles of being a mom, and I knew what moms look for when they're shopping - this is the level of understanding you should have for the business you represent.

Working for a donut shop? Learn about the people who visit. What is the median age? When do they visit? What flavors sell quickly? Learn, learn and keep learning. You have to know your audience before you can connect with them, and you absolutely must connect with them before you can sell to them.

Step 3: Create amazing content

Once you know who your audience is and what they want, give it back to them! You'll need to continually offer your audience great content, which also comes in the form of conversations in order to build a loyal following.

Here are some content examples from industries I have worked with:

Juvenile - Uplifting/inspirational quotes, emotion invoking imagery

Automotive - New inventory, deals, client testimonials

Food & Beverage - Specials, dishes, events

Events & Entertainment - Ticket updates, clips and audio sneak peaks

Therapy Centers - Insightful quotes, cool tones, benefits, testimonials, specials

Use programs like Photoshop to create. Not there yet? Check out Canva or Adobe Spark. Combine those with amazing resources like Stock Media Empire and you're all set.

Step 4: Do it!
